Our COVID-19 Response

At Mermac Construction we take the Health & Safety of our entire operation very seriously.

This means ensuring the health and safety of our staff, trade partners and clients; to do so, we are taking several steps to ensure this, including:

  • implementing health check monitoring
  • increasing sanitization measures
  • enforcing social distancing measures
  • implementing strict self-isolation guidelines for anyone showing symptoms of a cold, flu or COVID-19.

We continue to be fully operational and have taken the following steps for the protection of our entire professional family: cz-lekarna.com

  • Our Management, Safety Team and Site Supervisors are working together on the development and implementation of preparedness plans to mitigate short- and long-term impacts to our business and projects.
  • We are responding quickly to this evolving situation and making recommendations and changes to the way we operate our office and job sites based on the recommended actions and measures by Canadian Health officials and the Calgary Construction Association
    • We have implemented access restrictions on our sites. Site supervisors must be contacted prior to entering a site.
    • Sign in/sign out protocol is now via text message to the site supervisor
    • A health questionnaire must be completed prior to starting work
    • Hand sanitization is required prior to starting work
    • Physical distancing measures are being enforced on all job sites
    • We have increased sanitization efforts on all job sites and in our office
      • All site trailers are restricted access and are cleaned/disinfected daily
      • Portable toilets are disinfected daily
      • Door handles, stair rails, shared tools and all other commonly touched surfaces are disinfected multiple times each day
  • Our office is now closed to the public. Visitors will require an appointment and to complete a Health Questionnaire prior to entering.
  • We have implemented a temporary remote-work program for administrative staff that are able to work from home, to minimize exposure to themselves and their families.
  • We have suspended site meetings until further notice. Due to the vulnerability of a high traffic construction site, we ask that only Mermac employees and subtrades are on site.

Our goal is to keep everyone as safe as possible and to mitigate potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus while continuing to keep our projects on schedule. We do not know how long we will need to continue to keep these restrictions in place, however, we are committed to communicating regularly as the situation evolves.
